Puntičkáři The Maccabees

Tuto anglickou partičku moc dlouho neznám a jejich nejslavnější singly se ke mě dostaly až ke konci minulého roku. Ale i přesto, že jsou to Britové, hrajou indie a vypadaj docela dobře, tak mě moc neokouzlili. Novým albem GIVEN TO THE WILD, už se ale tak trochu zapsali do seznamu mých oblíbených kapel.
Jejich hudba sice není moc novátorská a originální, ale určitě je kvalitní a dobře se poslouchá. Pecku THE PELICAN stále nemůžu dostat z hlavy a také přemýšlím nad tím, jestli je zpěvák Orlando Weeks hezký chlap nebo ne (někdy mu to příšerně sluší, jindy vypadá jako nějakej pumlíčkovskej ranař, ale každopádně je to sympaťák s náušničkou jako Damon a navíc má hezké jméno). Ale dost už s chlapama, o ty tady přece nejde!
Pusťte si jejich příšerně hipster galaxy videoklip k písni The Pelican, hledejte spojitost mezi létajícími věcmi a snažte se porozumět textu (ten začátek fakt nerozumim...nějaký "sesumej, sesumej...":).

A dalším videem chci podtrhnout nadpis. Hrajou totiž skvěle live, skoro stejné jako originál a takové ani moc, ani málo...

Ještě nedávno myslím, že měli v Topshopu triko. Dneska docela lituju, že jsem si ho nekoupila...

 

Jejich poslední album Given To The Wild právě doposlouchávám. Mezi mé nejoblíbenější písně patří samozřejmě Pelican, Feel To Follow a Ayla. Celkově příjemné album, které je na prosluněné jarní pátky jako dělané. Dávám jim tři z pěti hvězdiček. Ničím mě nepřekvapili, ani nezklamali. Na Wikipedii se píše, že inspiraci pro vznik tohoto alba brali od Kate Nash, The Stone Roses a Davida Bowieho.
"'Given to the wild' is the first line on the album and was a title idea we had pretty early on. But it wasn't until we'd finished recording that we could come back to it and know that it suited, it just felt right."
